The Astra Collective
The Astra Collective is a New York City based chamber music ensemble co-founded by Billy Popfinger, double bassist and Jessica Ringston, flutist. With engaging repertoire spanning from the Baroque era to works of the present day, the ensemble is sought out for their innovative and dynamic performances. The Astra Collective has given several performances at The Frick Collection, as well as a featured performance in New York City’s Fifth Avenue Blooms, an installation created by Van Cleef & Arpels. Advocates for new music, Astra actively works with composers to commission works to feature their unique and rarely heard instrumentation. This past January, the Astra Collective performed in two world premieres at Mercury Lounge, featuring works by composers Leah Jane and Bruno Robles-Rendón.
